The core propositions of the theory, namely, the theory of external dependence, the necessity of crisis and the logic of imperialism, lay a solid foundation for the analysis of the phenomenon of digital economy. Under the background of digital economy, capital accumulation presents new features such as the transformation of production factors, the transfer of accumulation subjects, and the transformation of spatial expansion forms, and the extension of external dependence to virtual space has caused many contradictions and crises, which precisely reflects the adaptability of this theory. In this process, the contemporary value of the theory is expressed in many ways. The theory itself has the vitality of advancing with The Times, and with the ability of penetrating criticism of the nature of capital expansion, as well as the methodology of dynamic analysis, global vision and interdisciplinary regeneration, it provides rich ideological resources for related research. At the same time, it has guiding significance for the formulation of digital economy policies, and provides strong support from micro-enterprise strategies to macroeconomic regulation and control, sustainable development and other dimensions.
