摘要
A trial excavation was carried out in 1997 on the Zhangsidun site in Anqing City, Anhui, in an area of 46 sq m. The site occupies nearly 30,000 sq m in total. In the excavated area 10 ash-pits, two ash-trenches and a tomb of the Neolithic Age and four ash-pits of the Shang-Zhou period were revealed. Stone implements and pottery vessels form the main objects unearthed. The Neolithicremains are rather complex in culture, containing cultural elements from eastern Hubei, while the Shang-Zhou ones must represent a native culture with the elements absorbed from the Zhou culture. The excavation furnished important data to studying the Longshan period culture in western Anhui and new clues to understanding the Neolithic cultural sequence in this area.
