The discharge of construction waste not only pollutes the ecological environment, but also directly affects the cost expenditure of enterprises. How to control or reduce the amount of construction waste is more and more concerned by the industry and academia.Compared with traditional cast-in-place buildings, prefabricated buildings have significant advantages in reducing the amount of construction waste. This paper conducts a comparative study on quantification of construction waste by using these two methods.Firstly, the sources and components of construction waste are classified. The construction characteristics of prefabricated buildings and traditional cast-in-place buildings are sorted out and the amount of construction waste generated by each process is analyzed. Then based on the same case, the current technical specifications and quota standards are used to measure and compare the amount of construction waste. The results show that the waste of traditional cast-in-place construction is mainly produced in foundation and foundation engineering, main structure engineering and decoration engineering. The waste of prefabricated buildings is generated during the production, transportation and installation of components. It is estimated that the prefabricated construction can reduce the amount of construction waste by 48.25%compared with traditional cast-in-place construction.
