摘要
概念是思想的基本单位,它帮助我们理解复杂的物质和精神世界,概念的理解和传达对于翻译来说也至关重要。由于汉英语言的差异,在实际的翻译过程中,中华传统思想文化概念的翻译存在诸多问题,究其原因主要是译者囿于个体概念的对译,忽视了从系统的视角进行统筹。本文认为,概念总是存在于语言文化系统中,该系统具有集合性、关联性、动态性、整体性和目的性等特征,概念翻译应该跳出原子观的藩篱,从系统观的角度来考量。为了在译文系统中更好地构建与原文相当的概念系统,我们需要遵循概念翻译的可辨性、一致性、整体性、关联性和客观性等原则。
Concepts serve as the foundational units of thought,enabling us to navigate and comprehend the intricate realms of both the material and spiritual worlds.The accurate understanding and effective conveyance of concepts are pivotal in the translation process.However,due to the inherent differences between Chinese and English,translating traditional Chinese cultural concepts into English presents numerous challenges.A primary issue is that translators often focus on rendering individual concepts in isolation,overlooking the importance of a systemic approach.This article argues that concepts are inherently embedded within linguistic and cultural systems,which are characterized by their collective,interconnected,dynamic,holistic,and purposive nature.Therefore,the translation of concepts should transcend an atomistic perspective and instead adopt a systemic framework.To effectively construct a coherent concept system in the target language,translators must adhere to principles such as identifiability,consistency,integrity,connectivity,and objectivity in their approach to concept translation.
