摘要
交通基础设施的建设对要素流动发挥重要作用,从而对经济发展产生影响。本文从城市层面考察高铁开通对区域经济增长效应,基于2004-2018年的中国城市面板数据,利用PSM-DID估计方法,从不同层面实证评估高铁开通对区域经济增长的影响。研究发现:(1)整体而言,高铁的开通提升了人们的出行体验,极大地促进了地区间要素流动,有盘活市场的作用。(2)分地区而言,目前高铁开通对中部地区和西部地区的经济增长的影响已表现出了不同程度促进作用;(3)分城市规模而言,高铁开通对不同体量城市的经济发展促进作用呈现分阶段的特点,表现为大中型城市最先受惠,小型城市紧随其后。因此,在注重高铁开通对区域间交通带来便利的同时,也要正确认识高铁在不同阶段对区域经济发展的作用,用长远、发展的眼光看待"高铁圈"效应。
The construction of transportation infrastructure plays an important role in the flow of factors and thus has an impact on economic development. This paper examines the effect of the opening of high-speed rail on regional economic growth from the city level. Based on the panel data of Chinese cities from 2004 to 2018, and using the PSM-DID estimation method, it empirically evaluates the impact of the opening of high-speed rail on regional economic growth from different levels. The research found that:(1) Overall, the opening of high-speed rail has improved people’s travel experience, greatly promoted the flow of factors between regions, and revitalized the market.(2) In terms of different regions, the impact of the opening of high-speed rail on the economic growth of the central and western regions has shown different degrees of promotion;(3) In terms of city size, the opening of high-speed rail has affected the economic development of cities of different sizes.The promotion is characterized by stages, with large and medium-sized cities benefiting first, followed by small cities. Therefore, while paying attention to the convenience brought by the opening of high-speed rail to inter-regional transportation, we must also correctly understand the role of high-speed rail in regional economic development at different stages, and look at the "high-speed rail circle" effect from a long-term and developmental perspective.
