The English retranslations of Luotuo Xiangzi is a significant case m the translation history of Chinese literature as well as one of the successful exemplars of Chinese literature circulating in the English world. Employing the definition of world literature by David Damrosch, this paper compares the text differences between Evan King's translation and that of Howard Glodblatt, and examines the cultural refractivity and acceptability of the texts as world literature, as well as the "detached involvement" in reading, in order to demonstrate the key role of translation in integrating Chinese literature into world literature. The study of the text differences and the acceptance process of the two translations reveals that the target-oriented culture promotion tactics should be employed to introduce Chinese literature to the world.
