摘要
本文首先回顾了评价系统和语境的相关研究,并根据White的论述勾画了新闻语篇的态度评价框架图。然后以此框架图为基础,以两篇话题相同、语言表达类似但观点大相径庭的美国新闻报道为语料,采用语料库(定量)研究和话语分析(定性)研究等方法,对比分析了两个语篇中的态度铭刻和态度标记及其设置语言语境的作用。结果表明:(1)英语硬新闻语篇较少采用态度铭刻策略,以体现其报道的客观性;(2)英语硬新闻语篇存在多种态度标记策略,以形成特定的语言语境来影响读者的新闻理解;(3)当文化语境与语言语境冲突时,语言语境会起决定作用,这一现象可以运用概念整合理论从心理语言学角度加以论证。
Following a review of literature on appraisal system and context, this paper adopts a frame diagram for evaluating news discourse in accordance with White's theory. Based on this diagram, two news discourses about one and the same event yet with different opinions and with seemingly similar expressions, are contrasted by means of corpus analysis and discourse analysis, aiming to compare and explore the use of attitudinal inscriptions and tokens and their function in setting up particular linguistic contexts in news discourses. The conclusions are as follows: (1) In order to achieve credibility, attitudinal inscriptions are seldom used in news discourse. (2) Various attitudinal tokens are used to set up particular contexts so as to shape readers' interpretation and evaluation. (3) Linguistic context outweighs cultural context when they contradict one another, which may be explained by the Conceptual Blending Theory from the perspective of psycholinguistics.
