摘要
中国究竟有没有翻译理论,这个问题在中国译坛已讨论多年。中国学界对此议题有两大取向,一派坚持中国对翻译有自己一套看法;另一派则倾向以西方近代流行的译论作为判断准则,认为中国欠缺翻译理论。本文以“理论”这个字的词义作为切入点,试从另一个角度分析何谓理论,讨论应该怎样界定中国有关翻译的讨论,并提出建立“翻译话语系统”,以推动中国翻译理论的建设。
The question of whether there are translation theories in China has been discussed for some time in the Chinese mainland. There are two main schools of thought regarding this issue. One is adamant that Chinese translation theory has a system of its own. The other, adopting the criteria established in the West, argues that there is no translation theory in China-not in the modern sense of the word. This paper takes the word 'theory' as the starting point, queries the validity of its so called 'defining features', and introduces the alternative model of 'Chinese discourse on translation' with which to analyze Chinese discussions about translation. The aim is to map out a new direction for the development of translation studies in China.
