摘要
林语堂文学既是文学文本,也是文化文本。在林语堂异语书写中既有跨语际语码转换,也有跨文化编码。在长期的海外异语书写实践中,林语堂对中国文化进行了成功的跨文化阐释与传播,其中具有典型意义的是其在异语书写中对孔子形象的跨文化编码和形象塑造。本文从达情者孔子的人文形象、东方柏拉图式孔子社会哲学家形象、“雨中歌者”孔子的艺术形象等方面分析林语堂异语书写中对孔子形象的重识、重构和重解,挖掘其在促进儒学思想和孔子形象在西方世界的传播与接受方面作出的历史贡献。
Lin Yutang's literature is literary texts as well as cultural texts since it involves translingual code switching and cross-cultural encoding characterization.In Lin's long-term practice of English writing and C-E translation,he has managed to interpret and introduce Chinese culture to foreign readers,especially he reinterpret and recharacterize the image of Confucius in English successfully in his translingual and cross-cultural writing as well as C-E translation.This article discusses Lin Yutang's retrocognition,reinterpretation and recharacterization of Confucius from such perspectives as Confucius as an empathic humanist,a Platonic social philosopher,as well as an artist who sings in the rain.The research also evaluates the historical contributions of Lin Yutang in introducing and interpreting Confucius'image and Confucianism in English World.
