学业进步对农村学生精神风貌的建设意义——合理评估招生倾斜政策的新思路 被引量:6

Academic Catching-up Promotes Positive Spirit for Rural Students:A New Perspective in Special Admission Policy Evaluation

摘要 受惠于招生倾斜政策进入一流大学的农村学生,面对学业和大学生活带来的一系列挑战,毕业之际是否会仍然心存感恩、充满斗志呢?本研究以一所教育部直属X大学为案例,使用学生历年学业记录和跟踪调研数据,从学业表现变化的角度分析学生毕业之际的精神风貌。分析表明:第一,入学伊始,受惠于"农村定额"和"贫困定向"计划的学生对就读大学和政府充满感激;然而毕业之际,其精神风貌却出乎意料地比城市学生消极。第二,学业进步的农村学生与城市学生相比并不存在劣势,对于逆境、人生走向和致力于解决世界困扰等方面的态度比学业持续优秀的农村学生更为积极。第三,使用多重插补技术处理数据缺失问题后,多元回归模型将学生入学伊始的人格特质纳入考虑,以上结果依然成立。换言之,对于政策受惠农村学生而言,学业进步不仅是其学业表现的主要特征,学业进步更对其内在成长和心理建设具有重要的发展性意义。据此,本文对合理评估招生倾斜政策的效果提出了新思路。 Rural students admitted to elite universities under special admission policies face both academic and social challenges, would they be grateful for such an experience and in a high spirit for what is to come when graduating from college?Using administrative records and a longitudinal data for 2014 freshman cohort at X University, we examine students’ spiritual features upon graduation according to their academic performance changes. Empirical analysis establishes three major findings.First, students benefited from the policies were grateful to X University and the government during freshman year;yet unexpectedly,they were in a low spirit near graduation compared with urban students. Second, among those who caught-up academically, there were no difference between urban students and policy beneficiaries;and these policy beneficiaries were in much more positive spirit in facing hardship, seeing life direction, and being committed to solve world’s problems, compared with those rural students who were persistently top performers. Third, the results remain after taking into account personality measured during freshman year,after having dealt with missing values using the Multiple Imputation technique. That is, catching-up academically not only is the key feature of the policy beneficiaries, but such an experience also promotes their personal growth and psychological establishment.Thus, we provide a new perspective in evaluating special admission policies.
