以"句子片段"——一种不含修辞格的修辞形式——在中国学生英语写作中的使用考察为例,本文旨在调查中国学生的英语修辞意识。通过对语料的语义类型和语料发生的语境进行分析、对语料发生者进行问卷调查和面谈以及后续修辞问卷调查,解决三个问题:中国学生的"句子片段"是否具有潜在的修辞效果?如果有,学生使用修辞的意识程度如何?学生对修辞的认知如何?结果表明:中国学生所使用的"句子片段"具有一定的修辞潜能;他们的修辞意识普遍低下;因为他们普遍把修辞定位为有修辞格的语言形式,忽略了一般语言形式或者偏离形式在特定语境下的修辞作用,影响了他们有意识地使用各种修辞手段达到修辞目的。
Based on an investigation of Chinese students' English us of sentence fragments, a type of rhetorical form without any figure of speech, the survey, via questionnaire and interview, attempts to answer three questions: Are Chinese students' sentence fragments potentially rhetorical? If the answer is'yes', what is the degree of their consciousness to apply these potential rhetorical resources? And then what is their cognition about'rhetoric'? The findings are Chinese students' sentence fragments are potentially rhetorical; but their rhetorical consciousness is unsatisfactory; the reason is that rhetoric seems to them only those expressions of figures of speech, which affects their communicative forces for their negligence of many other rhetorical resources.
