摘要
讨论译名问题时常见“音译”“零翻译”“不译”等术语混用,其概念源头可追溯至玄奘佛经翻译“五不翻”,至当代又见贺麟“不翻”思想。本文回顾“不翻”论产生的历史语境,梳理相关衍生概念异同,然后从译者采取“不翻”的缘由、“不翻”现象发生的语言单位层面、“不翻”论属性定位三个维度解读其概念内涵。其中,从语义空白的“不可译”进而到翻译价值取向的“无需译”视角来揭示“不翻”的根源,更彰显其在翻译理论与实践中的独特意义。
When discussing term translation,the concepts of"transliteration""zero translation"and"non translation"are often intertwined,leading to confusion and misunderstanding.The origin of such conception can be traced back first to the guidelines of"wubufan"proposed by Monk Xuanzang,and later to the philosopher He Lin's principle of"bufan"in the modern time.This article examines the series of terms through an investigation starting from Xuanzang to He Lin with an aim of distinguishing the similarities and differences of these concepts and revealing the essential connotation of"bufan"from the dimensions of origin,translation unit and its orientation.Especially,to reveal the causes of"bufan"from the perspectives of semantic gap to social values is of great importance,which can highlight its unique significance in translation theory and translation practice.
