When the western novels were first translated into China, the translator often redrew a Chinesenovel title for the translation to avoid readers, discomfort. The novel translated by Lin Shu was a representative.Since then, Chinese readers gradually accepted the style of western novels, and the formulation of the namesof the books returned from the ‘ Sinicization’ to the ‘ Europeanization’. However, some of the translatednames were classic and became the remains of the early ‘ Sinicization’ translation. Some of the present‘Europeanization’ translation can’ t be popularly accepted by current readers, so the translators strategicallychange them with the commercial consideration. The evolution of translated names from ‘ Sinicization’ to‘Europeanization’ can demonstrate the Europeanization process of Chinese novels.
