Writers never name their characters at will, and the characters' names usually have implicit meanings. The names in Hongloumeng not only carry profound messages, but also contain rich aesthetic information. Each of the two translation versions of these names has its own merits.Taking metaphoric names in the original text as aesthetic objects, and from the perspective of translation aesthetics, the aesthetic values in the novel and the aesthetic information in the translation versions can be carefully analyzed.Through the classification of the translation strategies and evaluation of the gain and loss in restoring the beauty in the original text,it can be concluded that,if a translator wants to reserve original appeal as much as possible,he must fully appreciate the beauty in the original text and try to restore and compensate it in the translation version.
