敬畏情绪对旅游者实施环境责任行为的影响——以地方依恋为中介 被引量:80

Tourists' Awe and Environmentally Responsible Behavior:The Mediating Role of Place Attachment

摘要 已有旅游者环境责任行为机制研究较为忽视对个体情绪的探讨,相较于认知因素,近几年学者陆续指出情感因素对行为的驱动作用更为关键,加强积极情绪与环境责任行为关系研究的力度大有裨益。文章采用结构方程建模方法,以敬畏原型理论、敬畏情绪的功能、积极情绪扩建理论和地方理论为基础,将地方依恋作为中介变量,深入分析个体积极情绪的一种,即敬畏情绪对宗教山岳型景区旅游者环境责任行为的影响机制。以千山景区为例的实证数据分析结果显示,敬畏情绪对环境责任行为的直接影响效应显著,地方依恋二维度(依赖和认同)也在其中起部分链式中介作用,但敬畏对地方认同的直接影响效应不显著。研究结论为景区加强自然环境维护、宗教氛围营造,以激发旅游者的敬畏情绪体验,从而强化地方依恋、实现环境责任行为的培育提供借鉴。 Compared to cognitive constructs,scholars recently discovered that emotional factors play a more critical role in explaining human behaviors,especially positive emotions.But positive emotions have long been neglected in tourists'environmentally responsible behavior literature.Awe is a notable kind of positive emotions.It creates a strong connection between an individual and his/her surrounding world to foster a desire for the individual to prolong,memorize and/or relive the experience.It even leads to topophilia and a sense of place (Coghlan et al.,2012).Place attachment,a category of sense of place,is a driving factor of tourists'environmentally responsible behavior.Thus,this paper hypothes- izes place attachment as a mediator to explore the impact of tourists'awe on their environmentally responsible behavior.This paper attempts to clarify the role of awe on tourists'environmentally responsible behavior to encourage the application of related theory of awe in tourism studies.Building on the prototype approach to awe,the broaden-and-build theory of positive emotions,the function of awe,and the theory of place,this paper developed a theoretical model of tourists'awe and tested several relationships among its antecedents and consequences.In specific,natural environment and religious atmosphere were hypothesized as antecedents of awe;and place dependence and place identity (the 2dimensions of place attachment)were tested as mediators between awe and environmentally responsible behavior.Data was collected from tourists in Mount Qian in China.In total,344valid responses were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).The data fit the proposed model well (x2/df=1.174,RMR=0.042,RMSEA=0.028,CFI=0.977,TLI=0.973,IFI=0. 977,GFI=0.902).The major findings include:(1)natural environment and religious atmosphere jointly stimulated tourists'awe (β1=0.481,p<0.05;β2=0.250,p<0.05);(2)tourists'awe positively affected place dependence (β3=0.288,p<0.05),and dependence acted as a mediator between awe and place identity (β=0.147);(3)awe affected environmentally responsible behavior positively and directly(β8=0. 277,p<0.001);(4)placedependence positively affected identity (β5=0.510,p<0.001),and both place dependence and identity positively influenced environmentally responsible behavior (β6=0.443,p<0. 001;β7=0.272,p<0.001);(5)place dependence was a partial mediator between awe and environmentally responsible behavior (β=0.128).This paper is the first to empirically test the impact of awe on environmentally responsmte behavior using place attachment as a mediator.The findings of it provide theoretical support for strengthening natural environment maintenance and religious atmosphere construction to arouse tourists' awe experience.These actions will further improve tourists'place attachment and increase their environmentally responsible behavior.
