Objective To explore the effect of elders' social roles on their subjective well-being. Results The number of satisfying social roles was a significant predictor of the elder's subjective well-being (β=0.362);and it benefited their subjective well-being greatly if the elder was satisfied with their roles as grandfather/grandmother,parents,brother,sister and husband/wife. Those elders "being, valuing and being satisfied with" their roles as parents,grandfather/grandmother and husband/wife experienced highest subjective well-being.
