In July of 2008, Tsinghua University acquired 2388 pieces of bamboo slips of Warring States Period. Among the pieces, entire slips were estimated at 1700, and the contents of 11 entire slips were about "Bao Xun 保训"-the last words of Wen Wang 文王 of Zhou State to his son, the Prince Fa 太子发, Zhou Wu Wang 周武王 . At the beginning of the text, a date was recorded. It proved the reign duration of Wen Wang recorded in Shang Shu 尚书, and revealed that Wen Wang had been lorded that time. In the text, Wen Wang mentioned two tales. One was about the ancient emperor Shun 舜, the story can be refered to Lun Yu 论语, and Zhong Yong 中庸 . The other was about a famous captain of Shang named Shang Jia Wei 上甲微, the story was closely related to the literature Ji Nian 纪年, and Oracle-bone inscriptions discovered from Yin Xu 殷墟 . Meaning of the two tales were both related to the idea of Zhong 中 (Center). Thus these 11 bamboo slips are of great value to study of the origin of Confucianism.
