摘要
萨丕尔-沃尔夫假说包含了语言相对论和语言决定论两个方面，它对语言、思维和文化的关系的论述与欧洲的语言人类学传统有着直接的联系。追溯萨丕尔一沃尔夫假说对康德、哈曼、赫尔德、洪堡特思想的继承性，以此探索这一假说的欧洲渊源。
Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis has two aspects：linguistic relativism and linguistic determinism. It inherits Western linguistic anthropology in its discussion of the relation between language,thought and culture. The paper traces the Western inheritance of the hypothesis from the thoughts of Kant, Hamann, Herder, and especially Humbolt,which are the main sources of the hypothesis.
