摘要
性质形容词是形客词的典型成员，在形容词次范畴中占有重要的地位，但迄今为止性质形容词的专论并不多见，就一些基本的问题尚未形成共识。本文尝试给出性质形容词的形式鉴别标准；分析性质形容词的词法特征和基本句法功能。文章最后指出，性质形容词作定语和谓语这种复合句法功能的实现是由形容词在词类连续统中所处的地位决定的，折射出左邻右舍的相关性，正是这种迥异的句法功能为汉语形容词的词类地位奠定了坚实的基础。
The qualitative adjectives are a typical category of adjectives and are important among the subcategories of adjectives. To this day, however, we have not seen many special studies on the qualitative adjective and no consentient view has reached on some basic problems. This paper attempts to set formal standards to define qualitative adjectives and to specify their morphological features and fundamental syntactic functions. The qualitative adjective functions as attributive and predicate and the realization of these two functions are determined by the position of the adjective in the word-class continuum, reflecting the interrelationship between the adjective and other members in the continuum. It is these functions that ensure adjectives exist as a word class.
