Four Focuses on Fostering a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation in China’s Borderland

摘要边疆地区与内地的政治、经济、文化联系源远流长,关系密切。边疆地区铸牢中华民族共同体意识,应从历史与现实结合的角度寻找定位,汲取力量。巩固历史记忆,认清边疆与内地政治一体的历史由来,坚定中华民族一家亲和中国神圣领土不可分的信念。承续历史上边疆与内地的经济联系,在新的平台条件下增强边疆与内地的经济依存度,打牢中华民族共同体意识的经济基础。接续历史上边疆与内地人口流动之河,扩大双向人口流动和互嵌式居住的规模,促进各民族交往交流交融。发扬历史上边疆与内地文化共享之传统,促进中华传统优秀文化和社会主义先进文化在各民族中的广泛传播交流,打牢中华民族共同体意识的文化基础。这四者可称为边疆地区铸牢中华民族共同体意识的四个着力点。 The borderland and the heartland of China have a long and extensive history of political, economic and cultural exchanges and interactions. To foster a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation in borderland requires us to draw strength and find the right direction by combining the past and now. We should: 1) solidify the memory of history, understand the historical origin of the political oneness of the borderland and the heartland of China, and strengthen our believes on the deep attachment like family members between all ethnic groups in China and that Chinese borderland is an integral part of Chinese territory;2) inherit the economic connection in history between the borderland and the heartland, and strengthen economic dependency between the borderland and the heartland with the help of new platforms, so as to lay solid economic foundation for the fostering of sense of community for the Chinese nation;3) preserve the population flow between the borderland and the heartland from the past to the present and the future, and expand the extent of population flow in both directions and the size of ethnic-inlaid communities, so as to promote exchanges and interactions among all ethnic groups;4) carry forward the tradition of culture sharing between the borderland and the heartland, and popularize the fine traditional Chinese culture and the advanced socialist culture to and among all ethnic groups in China, so as to forge a solid cultural foundation for the fostering of sense of community for the Chinese nation in Chinese borderland. These four points may be referred to as four focuses on fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation in Chinese borderland.
