摘要
在20世纪40年代特殊的战争时期,中国文学走出去是一场历史的机缘。该时期的外译一直没有得到足够的重视。中国译者崔骥英译谢冰莹的《一个女兵的自传》就是其中的典型代表。该译作自1943年首次出版至1948年经历了6次印刷,第一次实现了在英美大众读者中的传播。本文回到历史现场,聚焦中国文学现代早期域外传播与接受现象,探讨影响译作取得良好接受效果的环境、文类、译者因素。研究对中国文学的翻译与传播有以下思考和启示:丰富了早期译介史,探索了中国译者的作为空间;剖析了战时中国译者“异国情调”的成因,肯定了其独特的时代意义;突出了译者的读者意识在中国文学接受中的重要性。
Chinese culture going abroad in the war-time 1940s is a historical serendipity.The early modern English translations of Chinese stories in this special period has long been neglected,Autobiography of a Chinese Girl:A Genuine Autobiography by the Chinese translator Tsui Chi being one of the typical representative.After its first publication in 1943 till 1948,it got reprinted six times in the special war-time period and for the first time reached the reading public.Tracing back to the 1940s,the paper focuses on the dissemination and reception of early modern English translations of Chinese stories and analyzes the influencing factors on its warm reception from the perspective of the environment,the genre,and the translator.The research aims to shed some light on the translation and dissemination of modern Chinese stories:firstly,to enrich the early literary translation history and explore Chinese translators’possible doings;secondly,to reveal Western’s expectation of exoticism towards Chinese works and affirms its unique value in a speical period;finally,to stress the importance of the translators’s awareness of readers.
