摘要
本研究从语境坍塌视角出发,采用问卷调查法,探讨了微信好友多样性对用户选择性呈现功能使用的影响。研究结果表明,微信好友种类的增加会引发用户保护性印象管理需求,进而提高选择性呈现功能使用频率,个体的人际监控导向在这个过程中起调节作用。具体而言,当个人的人际监控导向表现为他人导向时,好友多样性通过保护性印象管理需求影响选择性呈现功能使用的正向中介效应显著;当个人的人际监控导向表现为自我导向时,上述中介效应不显著。本研究揭示了社交媒体好友多样性对选择性自我呈现的影响,并明确了其作用机制,为语境坍塌相关研究提供了更加全面的视角。
Drawing upon context collapse theory,the present study propo-ses that audience diversity on WeChat may have an influence on users’selective self-presentation via the need for protective impression management.The results indicate that audience diversity promotes the need for protective impression management,which enhances the frequency of use of selective self-presentation tools,while the interpersonal monitoring orientation moderates the process.Specifically,for others-oriented individuals,the positive indirect effect of audience diversity on the use of selective self-presentation tools via the need for protective impression management is significant,while for self-oriented individuals,the indirect effect is not significant.The findings of this research can facilitate our understanding of impression management and self-presentation in social media.It provides a more comprehensive perspective for the related study of situational collapse.
