With the revision and improvement of the compulsory education policy, the number of migrant children continues to rise. This study, based on fieldwork conducted in a floating population community in H Town,Jiangsu Province, focuses on the media access and disconnection experiences of migrant children within their residential spaces.Through in-depth interviews and observations involving eight children and four mothers, this research reveals that social interactions among migrant children are often confined to their rooms due to residential segregation and restrictions on family media access.Within these limited connections, migrant children can only freely use outdated media devices and must wait for specific periods to connect to the internet. The distinction embedded in residential spaces is the external factor leading to migrant children,s disconnection. This factor also shapes their practical habitus in response to the lack of media access and significantly influences media consumption practices within migrant families.
