摘要
旅行具有经典的象征意义,身体的旅行其实也是精神的旅行。美国旅行文学与美国梦的追寻紧密相连,故此美国旅行文学的经典主题源自现实中追求美国梦的经典表现。从"兔子系列"中主人公的逃离——回归之旅到《在路上》中主人公的迷失——流浪——幻灭之旅,再到《山水无尽》中的发现新世界之旅,美国旅行文学,不论何种主题,从正反两面为后人提供了强有力的思想武器,为重塑虔诚美国梦、构建健康的美国文化提供着永不衰竭的源泉。
Journey is highly symbolic.To some extent,physical journey is spiritual journey.American journey narrative is closely related with American dream,and the former’s motifs originate from the pursuit of American dream in reality.From the Rabbit’s journey of“escape-return”in Rabbit Tetralogy,Dean and Sal’s journey of“getting lost- wandering- being disillu-sioned”in On the Road,to the journey of“finding a new world”in Mountains and Rivers Without End,American journey narra-tive,whatever its motifs,offers us endless source of ideas to rebuild devout American dream and construct sound American cul-ture.
