摘要
中国城市都是经过精心选址以后才开始建设的,城址必须要求平原广阔、水陆交通便利、地形有利、水源丰富、地形高低适中、气候温和、物产丰盈。这些地理条件恰好是中国西部地区所缺少的。中国西部地区自然条件差,城市化必须具有自己的特色,这就是大力发展小城镇,走农村城市化的道路。
China's cities were not to be constructed until their locations were elaborately positioned. The location of a city demanded a vast plain, convenient communications both by water and by land, a favorable terrain, an abundant supply of water, a suitable geographical altitude, a mild climate and miscellaneous products, which are just what western China lacks. With unfavorable natural conditions, urbanization in western China should develop by its own characteristics, that is, carrying out the policy of urbanizing the country by vigourously developing smallsized towns.
