学术外交与文化争胜:1940年代中国教授赴美访学述论

摘要 1940年代,中国教授群体受到中美各方资助而获得较多赴美访学的机会。这一访学计划从构想到实施,整个过程展现出各类社会因素复杂博弈的场景。其中有中美两国之间在学术交流项目愿景设定、实施政策、核心思想和具体行动上的分歧和互动,也有现代慈善基金会及大型学术组织、学人个体在文化输出及反输出等方面的自觉意识等等。这种访学可被视为当时中美两国以学术为手段而展开的外交博弈与文化争胜。当时背景下,跨国学术交流成为了一个学人个体、各类组织机构乃至政府等多重因素共同作用的复合型活动。 In the 1940s,Chinese scholars were subsidized by various parties from China and the United States,thus gaining more opportunities to visit the United States.The whole process of this visiting plan shows the scene of a complex interplay of various social factors from conception to implementation.Among them,there are differences and interactions between China and the United States in the vision setting,implementation policies,core ideas,and specific actions of academic exchange projects,as well as the consciousness of modern charitable foundations,large academic organizations and individual scholars in cultural export and counter-export.This kind of visit can be regarded as a diplomatic game and cultural competition between China and the United States by academic means.Under the background of that era,transnational academic exchange became a complex activity involving multiple factors including individual scholars,various organizations and even governments.
