希尼诗歌汉译本翻译策略的语用取效研究

摘要爱尔兰诺贝尔文学奖获得者谢默斯·希尼被认为是继叶芝之后最伟大的诗人。《一位自然主义者之死》是希尼的代表诗作。本研究从文学语用视角切入,探讨希尼诗歌《一位自然主义者之死》三位资深译者(吴德安、黄灿然、傅浩)译本的异同,并采用调查问卷,重点关注两个层面的接受者(笔者及20名中国高水平英语学习者)对不同译本翻译策略的取效解读。研究发现,在笔者对不同译本翻译质量评估的第一阶段取效层面,不同译者在音韵、词汇和句法上采用归化、异化、杂糅式、自由改译等不同的翻译策略,旨在再语境化诗歌译本特征,传递诗歌含义。在中国高水平英语学习者对不同译本翻译质量评估的第二阶段取效层面,高水平英语学习者更倾向于傅浩或黄灿然两位译者的译本,对不同层面的翻译策略阐释具有多元性,接受者的“文化过滤”是其中的主要因素,影响译本产生的诗学效果及读者对诗歌的理解,间接证明了诗歌的难译或不可译性。 Irish Nobel Prize winner in Literature,Seamus Heaney,is considered the greatest poet after Yeats.“The Death of a Naturalist”is a representative poem by Heaney.This study takes a literary pragmatic perspective to explore the similarities and differences in the translations of Heaney’s poem“The Death of a Naturalist”by three senior translators(Wu De’an,Huang Canran,and Fu Hao),and uses a survey questionnaire to focus on the effective interpretation of different translation strategies by the recipients(the author and 20 Chinese high-level English learners).Research has found that in the first perlocutionary stage of the author’s evaluation of the translation quality of different translations,different translators adopt different translation strategies such as domestication,foreignization,hybridization,and free translation in terms of phonology,vocabulary,and syntax,aiming to contextualize the characteristics of poetry translations and convey the meaning of poetry and songs.In the second perlocutionary stage of evaluating the translation quality of different translations by Chinese high-level English learners,they tend to prefer the translations of Fu Hao or Huang Canran,which have diverse interpretations in evaluating translation strategies at different levels of the poem.The recipient’s“cultural filtering”is the main factor that affects the poetic effect of the translated text and readers’understanding of the poem,indirectly proving the difficulty of translation or untranslatability of the poem.
