摘要
汤显祖戏剧在英语国家的传播和接受体现在汤显祖戏剧英译和研究等方面。汤显祖戏剧在英语国家的接受大致经历了四个阶段:20世纪70年代初兴阶段的浅尝接触、80年代发展阶段的冲突及误读、90年代高峰阶段的磨合及新世纪以来的多形态文化身份重建。这反映出英语国家对中国经典的认识和理解的变迁以及他们不同时期的文化需求。随着时代发展和中外交流的深入,英语国家对汤显祖戏剧的关注也渐由猎奇俯视的视角转向相对平等的对话姿态。除译介和文学批评外,21世纪汤显祖戏剧也在英语国家被改编、移植和演绎。汤显祖戏剧在英语国家的接受史反映了这些国家不同时期的文化、政策、社会风貌,以及国家文化战略及文艺思潮变迁。
The dissemination and acceptance of Tang Xianzu's dramatic works in the English-speaking countries could be examined through the introduction and translation,critic studies and adoption,which could be roughly divided into four stages:the starting stage of the 1970s,the developing stage of the 1980s,the peak stage of the 1990s and the polymorphic stage since the new century.The different features of the four stages convey the psychological and aesthetic changes in terms of western people's understanding and appreciation of Chinese traditional classics.On the one hand,with the cultural exchanges,the probing focus of Englishspeaking countries on Tang Xianzu's plays has gradually shifed from the perspective of western curiosity to a relatively equal dialogue posture.On the other hand,it reveals the social,cultural,governmental influences on the acceptance of Tang Xianzu's plays and the literary trend in those English-speaking countries.
