摘要
国际休闲研究至今已有120多年的历史。自20世纪50年代以来,各种休闲组织、机构和学术刊物的涌现推动了国际休闲研究的快速发展。文章以最早创刊的三家英文休闲期刊Journal of Leisure Research、Leisure Sciences和Leisure Studies文献为数据来源,借助高频关键词统计、Citespace可视化和文本分析等方法开展国际休闲研究热点演变特征及主要内容述评。研究发现:国际休闲研究可分为5个阶段;已形成庞大多学科交叉研究体系;主题广泛,与个人需求和社会发展相关的研究居多;跨学科理论运用和定性与定量综合研究成熟;欧洲和北美是国际休闲研究两大重要阵地。相比之下,由于起步相对较晚,中国休闲研究在休闲学科教育及休闲期刊建设、中国特色休闲问题的实践探讨和理论创新以及对国际休闲研究的贡献等方面,尚有较大的发展空间。
Leisure study is one of the oldest fields of study in the social science,which has a history of more than 120 years.Especially since the 1950 s,with the emergence of various leisure organizations,institutions and academic journals around the world,leisure research developed rapidly.This study examined 3,358 articles published in the three earliest English journals on leisure,namely Journal of Leisure Research(founded in 1969),Leisure Sciences(founded in 1977)and Leisure Studies(founded in 1982),to review the evolution of leisure studies over the last five decades.Citespace software and text analysis methods are used in the analysis of the high frequency keywords,cumulative change curves,topical areas and main content of international studies.Results indicated that the abundant international leisure research can be categorized into five stages:1969-1979,1980-1990,1991-2000,2001-2010 and 2011-2019,and each stage exhibits some distinctiveness in research hotspots.This study identifies ten research topical areas in five fields that have attracted constant attention of scholars.Overall,international leisure research demonstrates several characteristics.First,it has established an interdisciplinary system of leisure research and leisure education,covering leisure philosophy,leisure sociology,leisure behavior,leisure economics,leisure psychology,leisure aesthetics,leisure politics,leisure kinematics and leisure anthropology.Second,international leisure research demonstrates wide range of topics and themes,such as individual needs and social development,leisure and social justice and fairness,social services,health,aging,cultural diversity,environmental protection,tourism,the quality of life,family happiness,high-tech,big events,community.Third,there is a trend in applying interdisciplinary theories in leisure studies,for example,leisure motivation,leisure satisfaction,serious leisure,recreation specialization,leisure constraints,negotiation of leisure constraints,leisure involvement,family leisure and other theories are most widely used in international leisure research.Multidisciplinary theories such as place attachment,planned behavior,self-determination,self-efficacy,identity,flow,social groups(e.g.,crowding and conflict),social support,social justice and cultural theory are used extensively in leisure research.The synthesis of qualitative and quantitative research has become the mainstream in leisure research.The practical implication and research rigor and vigor have been greatly enhanced.Fourth,geographically,Europe and North America lead in international leisure research.Asian leisure studies are gaining prominence,among which Korean scholars are more pronounced.Based on the findings,this study posits that there is space for the development of leisure studies in China in terms of journals,discipline and the education system.Future studies on leisure in China may focus on practical implications and theoretical contribution based on the Chinese leisure characteristics.Dialogue between Chinese studies and international leisure studies may facilitate the theoretical and practical contribution.The study has limitations.This study analyzes the evolution of topical areas and contents of international leisure research based on high-frequency keywords(frequency≥3)and key burt terms.The content and findings of the literature are not examined in depth.Future review to examine the details is warranted.
