摘要
《惊奇山谷》作为第一部探讨身份商品化的小说,体现了谭恩美对身份认同独特的理解。作者在小说中多维而又隐晦地展示了身份的商品属性,探讨了身份认同的建构及身份商品化问题。紫罗兰从被动接受物化的身份到主动出卖自身种族身份,再到最后对商品化命运作出反抗的历程,呼应了中国特定历史时期的男权话语体系和性别政治,同时也彰显了女性勇于反抗命运、坚韧勇敢的品质。
As the first novel discussing the commodification of identity, The Valley of Amazement reflects Amy Tan unique understanding of identity.In the novel, the writer subtly reveals the commodity characteristics of identity, probing into the construction of identity and commodification of identity.This essay aims to explore the theme of this novel by analyzing the basis, the commodity characteristics and ＂decommodification＂ of Violets ethnic identity.In conclusion, it clarifies that Violets commodification of identity and her revolution against the commodified fate expose the patriarchal discourse system of certain Chinese historical period and gender politics, and it also reveals the power of womens courage and bravery.
