摘要
亚伯拉罕·弗莱克斯纳(Abraham Flexner,1866—1959)是20世纪美国教育领域最有影响的人物之一。他的实践涉及教育的多个领域。他受卡内基教学基金会的委托对美国高等医学教育进行调查,于1910年发表了著名的《弗莱克斯纳报告》,激起了美国医学教育领域翻天覆地的变革。他对当时深受功利主义冲击的美国大学作出负责任的思考,于1930年出版了《大学:美英德比较研究》一书,同样产生了世界性的影响。他基于这一思想创建普林斯顿高级研究院,引领美国高等学术回归理性、走向卓越。
Abraham Flexner was one of Amerca's most influential figures in the 20 th century. His education practice covered many areas. Commissioned by Carnegie Foundation, he conducted a study of America's higher medical education and published his famous Flexner Report in 1910, leading to a far-reaching reform of medical education in America. As a responsible reflection on American universities influenced by utilitarianism, his 1930 book titled Universities: American, English, German became known globally. In accordance with his education thought as such, he founded the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, guiding American higher education in its pursuit of rationality and excellence.
