James C. Scott's study on peasant is quite influential in the academia. The uniqueness of Scott's theory of peasants' 'everyday resistance'includes three aspects: Firstly, it gives us a new perspective to understand the concept of 'exploitation'. In Scott's view, peasants' perception of being exploited results from the threat of their right to subsistence. Secondly, Scott significantly shifts the academic focus from 'organized resistance' to 'everyday resistance', the latter indicates the unique way of peasants' political participation. Thirdly, Scott's research can be seen as a rejection of traditional elitism, Scott conducts the study of infrapolitics from the standpoint of the weak. The inspiration of Scott's research on peasants' everyday resistance for the study on peasants in China is reflected in the understanding of peasants and peasants' resistance.
