摘要
2009年,哈佛大学开始实施通识教育新方案,2011年-2012年度正处于由原来的核心课程向新课程过渡的中后阶段。本年度哈佛共开设通识课程185门,分布在审美与诠释的理解、文化与信仰、实证与数学推理、伦理推理、生命系统的科学、物理宇宙的科学、世界中的诸社会以及置身世界的美国等八大模块之中。哈佛通识课程面对现实,具有显著的实用主义色彩。课程具有鲜明的国际意识,对亚洲地区特别是中国问题颇为关注。课程超越了学科的界限,整合性强,充满探究性。过渡期内,哈佛通识课程的管理与更新相对稳健,但管理方法灵活,尤其注重教学与研讨的紧密结合。
The new Program in General Education of Harvard University has been implemented since 2009.The 2011-12academic year was at the stage of transition from the Core Curriculum to the New Program.Now,there are 185General Education courses which are distributed in the eight categories : Aesthetic and Interpretive Understanding,Culture and Belief,Empirical and Mathematical Reasoning,Ethical Reasoning,Science of Living Systems,Science of the Physical Universe,Societies of the World,and United States in the World.Facing the reality,the curriculums are remarkably characterized by pragmatism and have a distinct international awareness,with a focus on issues in Asia,especially on issues in China.Furthermore,the general education courses are beyond the boundaries of disciplines,with strong integration and inquiry.In the transition period,the update of the Harvard general education courses is relatively stable.However,the management methods are flexible,with particular emphasis on the integration of teaching and discussion.
