The 'Absolute' is one of the core concepts in Hegel's Philosophy. Hegel argues that the fundamental problem of modern world is the estrangement of human condition. As a philosophical concept, the 'Absolute' is the sublation of this dilemma faced by the mankind. The 'Absolute' has multiple meanings in Hegel's work. It can be understood as Allness, System, Idea, Organism, Process, and Purpose. The multiple meanings embodied by 'Absolute' enable Hegel's philosophy to achieve its integrity as a system and to obtain its real object as well. In Hegel's view, the real object of philosophy is the actuality. As such, the absolute idealism can be considered as an effort to meet the challenges of modernity and to reintegrate the fragmented civilization.
