摘要
白铁余起事利用的是佛本生信仰,与一般以弥勒为号召起义的事例不同。白铁余称"月光王",又称"光明圣皇帝",均为佛本生故事中的现实王形象,背景取于《贤愚经》。白铁余起事还利用了刘萨诃信仰,刘萨诃为稽胡族的民族神,他在江南广寻圣迹和预测番禾瑞像时皆以佛陀现世代言人自比,其"苏合圣"称名的典故来自《贤愚经》。白铁余起事同时借助了刘萨诃和《贤愚经》的影响,为信众描绘了一个光明的理想愿景。
Bai Tieyu utilized Jattaka Faith (佛本生信仰) to rebel, which makes it different from the re- bellions that used Faith of Maitreya (弥勒信仰 ). Bai Tieyu called himself Lord of Moon Light or Lord of Light. Both Lord of Moon Light and Lord of Light are incarnations of Buddha in the real world in Xianyujing (贤愚经). Liu Sahe, considering himself the representative of Buddha, was the God of Jihu nationality, and his name Suhesheng was also from Xianyujing. So Bai took advantage of the influences of both Xianyujing and Liu, thus depicting an ideal vision to his adherents.
