摘要
文章考察了语言中的中性指示词和中性指示的概念。中性指示是只依赖指示功能确立所指,不需要附加任何语义特征的指示,如果语言中有专门指示词来表达中性指示现象,这个指示词就是中性指示词。
This paper differentiates neutral pointing from neutral demonstratives and argues that the former is usually used to identify the referent but not to indicate the distance from the pointing center to the addressee, while the latter are not related to distance, but can show distance meaning when used in contrastive context and their distance meaning varies with the change of context. Medial demonstratives, which are the unmarked forms of demonstratives, have fixed distance meaning. It means that they have the same opportunity to be selected as proximal or distal demonstratives based on the factual distance.
