摘要
习语是某种语言经过长期使用而提炼出来的短句,包括俗语、谚语、成语、俚语和典故等。英汉两种语言均拥有丰富多彩的习语,但由于地域、宗教、习俗、历史等方面的差异,英汉习语承载着两种不同的民族特色及文化信息。文章从文化角度对比研究英汉习语,探讨英汉习语的文化差异,提出英汉习语翻译的基本策略和方法。
Idioms are the fixed classic phrases or short sentences being extracted through the long use of a certain language. They include colloquialisms, proverbs, idiom, slang expressions, allusions and so on. Both English and Chinese are rich in idioms, but due to geography, religion, customs, history and other differences, English and Chinese idioms carry two cultural differences of ethnic characteristics and cultural information. This paper attempts to make a comparison between English and Chinese idioms from a cultural perspective, and mainly discusses the cultural differences reflected in English and Chinese idioms. It also puts forwards some basic strategies and ways of translating English and Chinese idioms.
