摘要
本文运用“人类文化演变九大律”之第一规律“生态环境横向决定律”和第二定律“语言、文字纵向诱导暗示律”，以西方译论之首西塞罗的翻译名言为典型个案，对其中的关键语词进行了深入分析，揭示了产生于特定商业文化环境的语词本义对于西方翻译理论的建构力量和制约作用，指出“等值”思想是西方文化的必然。
Applying to Translatology two laws from “The Nine Laws Governing Human Cultural Development” ,viz. “The first law：ecological environment as a synchronic determining factor to cultural development” ,and “The second law：linguistic peculiarities as a diachronic molding factor to cultural development” ,the article gives a detailed etymological and semantic study of the diction in Cicero＇s argument on translating Greek orations. Analyses reveal that the key terms are of particular commercial cultural origins ,and their primordial meanings have great shaping power and exert strong restrictive effect upon Western translation theories,which in turn demonstrates that the pursuit of “equivalence” is a sure result of the Western culture.
