摘要
从上个世纪末开始,围绕男性在外语学习方面滞后于女性的问题,学术界就有广泛的争议,这也是困扰整个教育界的问题之一。本文结合近几年西方学界在语言教学的性别差异方面的前沿研究,全面分析了男性在语言学习中相对处于劣势的原因,尤其着重分析了社会因素对男性造成的负面影响,并据此提出了解决的办法。
The last decade saw the growing controversies over male's underachievement in foreign language learning which is one of the most disturbing problems we face within the whole education system. This essay, in light of recent studies in gender disparity in foreign language teaching and learning, tries to explore the causes why boys are underachieved in language learning from a world-wide perspective, and accordingly it identifies what clues for good practice already exist, and finally offers some tentative suggestions to help the "failing boys".
