CD4^+CD25^+ regulatory T(Treg)cells, originated frem the thymus and constitute approximately 5% - 10% of CD4^+ T cells, exert an important function in the maintenance of self immune tolerance. As an important subset of regulatory cells, CD4^+CD25^+ Treg cells have the features of hyporesponsive and anergic to antigen stimulation. Recently, many researches have indicated that CD4^+CD25^+ Treg cells play an important role in the maintaining the immune tolerance in the autoimmunity mainly by secreting immunosuppressire eytokines such as IL-10 and TGF-β, and suppressing the activation of serf-reactive T cells. Furthermore, their absence or functional deficiency may lead to various autoimmune diseases.
