Although Daisaku Ikeda's peaceful thinking originates in Buddhist doctrine, it is greatly influenced by traditional Chinese culture. Just as Confucius maintains that a benevolent person is kindhearted towards other human beings, Daisaku Ikeda proposes judging human beings from the point of life. They both advocate a universal human love by centring on human beings and aiming at love of humanity. Ikeda' s advocacy of practicable spirit of seeking peace and against wars can be traced to the same origin of Mohist theory of universal love and no war. Like the doctrine of Confucius and Mencius, which stresses faithfulness and tolerance, Ikeda' s philosophy of life, which emphasizes on understanding, confidence, respect and tolerance between human beings as well as nations, shows clearly the universal price based on humanist peaceful thinking.
