摘要
关于英语专业的基础英语教学与专门英语教学的关系问题,国内高校的许多英语教师有不少模糊认识。本文阐述了基础英语教学和专门用途英语教学的实质,探讨并澄清了其中的一些模糊认识,指出专门用途英语课程依然是以语言教学为中心,应当使学生获得提高英语水平、学习专业知识、训练专业英语表达的“一举三得”学习效果。
Some vague ideas about the interrelation between the teaching ot Basic English and that of ESP for English majors are still being beld by many English teachers in China＇ s universities.This paper tries to make clear such vague ideas through demonstration of the nature and interrelation of teaching them, and points out that ESP teaching is still language - cnetered, expected to help students reach such a ＂one - stone - skill - three - birds＂ goal in learning as to improve their English proficiency, to acquire professional knowledge for specific parposes, and to practice professional English terms and expressions.
