A tomb-garden site of the Eastern Han period is situated to the west of Luoyang City of the same time. It is rectangular in plan and occupies an area of about 25,000 sq m, of which approximately a half has been excavated. Around the tomb-garden were built rammed-earth walls, within which the area was divided into a western and an eastern parts. In the former is the tomb of the garden owner; in the latter, the architectural compiex auxiliary to the tomb. The tomb is constructed of bricks and has multiple chambers with a transverse anteroom, belonging to the type prevailing in the late Eastern Han period. The architectural complex in the east consists of three courtyards adjacent one to another from west to east, being harmonious in layout, well-knit in structure, clear in the distinction of the principal from the subordinate, and appropriate in the arrangement of the higher and the lower. It is valuable material for studying the architectural style of the Han period and the burial institution of the Eastern Han. Judging from the size and layout of the tomb-garden, the owner was neither one of the local powerful rich, nor the most lofty imperor, but maybe a nobleman with a special status. The remaining foundations of the buildings with a large-sized hall as the main body, structurally, much resemble the fifth hall-site southeast of the mausoleum garden of Western Han Emperor Xuandi's Du Ling-mausoleum, which is believed to be the remains of a subordinate building. The location of the complex to the east of the tomb and the use of greenish-grey stones as an important material of the main building are quite similar to the layout and architectural feature of the Eastern Han imperial mausoleums recorded in historical data, which makes a certain contribution to studying the construction institution of Han emperial ma(?)soleums.
