摘要
在以大数据为基础的现代信息社会,硅基光电子已经成为最具潜力的高效率、低成本片上解决方案。它的优势来源于成熟微电子技术和宽带光电子技术在微纳范畴内的有机结合。近年来,社会各界对这门学科的兴趣呈指数性增长。其应用也从最初的微电子扩展到通信、计算、传感、人工智能,乃至消费领域。揭示了硅基光电子发展的最初动机和挑战,评述当前的研发进展,并讨论其巨大的应用价值。希望以此推动微电子与光电子业界的进一步深度合作,使这个高效率、低成本的片上解决方案早日进入现代人的日常生活。
In the modern information society based on big data,silicon photonics has become the most promising high-efficiency and low-cost on-chip solution.Its advantages come from the combination of mature microelectronic technology and broadband optoelectronic technology in the micro-nano scale.In recent years,interest in this subject has been increased exponentially.Its applications have also expanded from the initial microelectronics to communications,computing,sensing,artificial intelligence,and even consumer fields.This paper reveals the initial motivations and challenges on the development of silicon photonics,reviews current progress of research and development,and discusses their great application value.It is hoped that the in-depth cooperation between microelectronics and optoelectronics industries could be further enhanced,so that this high-efficiency and low-cost on-chip solution can enter the daily life of our modern society as soon as possible.
