摘要
近义词辨析是词汇教学中的重难点,传统区分近义词的方法会导致近义词的误用现象。文章使用英国当代语料库(BNC)在线检索功能,辨析fully和entirely这组近义词在总体词频及不同语域中的词频分布、搭配、语义韵三方面的异同。结果表明,fully使用的频次略高于entirely,且fully具有积极的语义韵,entirely具有混合的语义韵。文章不仅为英语学习者提供学习近义词的方法,而且对英语词汇教学有一定的启示。
The discrimination of synonyms is an important and difficult point in vocabulary teaching.The traditional method of distinguishing synonyms will lead to the misuse of synonyms.Using the online retrieval function of the British Contemporary Corpus(BNC),this study analyzes the similarities and differences between the group of synonyms“fully”and“entirely”in terms of overall word frequency and word frequency distribution,collocation,and semantic rhyme in different domains.The results show that“fully”is used slightly more frequently than“entirely”.“Fully”has positive semantic rhyme and“entirely”has a mixed semantic rhyme.This study could not only pro-vide English learners with a way to learn synonyms,but also have implications for English vocabulary teaching.
