摘要
本研究以7个与北京环境相关的词汇为关键词,利用Wmatrix工具从隐喻角度对西方媒体关于北京环境的报道进行分析,旨在揭示西方媒体眼中的北京环境形象。在这些报道中,共识别出325个隐喻,涉及17种源域。其中,人体隐喻、物体隐喻、战争隐喻和疾病隐喻的使用十分频繁。多数隐喻都包含消极意义,折射出西方媒体对北京环境的消极态度。其中,战争隐喻有时也用来表示中国政府为应对北京的环境问题采取了一些措施,但结合语境来看,这些隐喻更多地传达了这些措施不能有效解决北京的环境问题的含义,明显有失偏颇。
With the help of Wmatrix,this study analyzes seven keywords in Western news reports about Beijing’s environment from a metaphor analysis perspective,aiming at revealing the image of Beijing’s environment in the eyes of these newspapers.325 metaphors and 17 kinds of source domains have been identified.Among them,people metaphor,object metaphor,war metaphor and disease metaphor are frequently used.In addition,most of the metaphors have negative meanings,reflecting a negative attitude towards Beijing’s environment.Sometimes war metaphors are employed to show that Chinese government has taken actions to cope with the environmental problem of Beijing.However,the context including these metaphors indicates that those actions cannot effectively solve the environmental problem,which does not accord with the fact.
