摘要
Nature has produced a rich diversity of structurally complex compounds or secondary metabolites with a wide variety of biological activities.Natural products have long been exploited for therapeutic purposes in traditional medicines around the world.Recently,it was reported almost half of the 1562 new approved drugs introduced between 1981 and 2014 are natural products or derived from natural products or biological^1.

Ruin Moaddel is currently a Staff Scientist in the Laboratory of Clinical Investigation at the National Institute on Aging,Baltimore,MD,USA.He obtained his Ph.D.at Northeastern University in 1999 followed by postdoctoral studies at Georgetown University.His research focus has been on the use of bioaffinity chromatography for the identification of active components in complex matrices and on the development and application of protein-coated magnetic beads for ligand fishing in natural products.He has published over 160 peerreviewed papers in prestigious international journals and has been an invited speaker at several international/domestic conferences and universities and holds several patents and serves on several advisory boards including the academic advisory board of the International Joint Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine Modernization and Innovative Drug Research.E-mail address:moaddelru@mail.nih.gov;Dr.Zhengjin Jiang is a professor at the College of Pharmacy,Jinan University,Guangzhou,China.He received his Ph.D.degree in the Institute of Elemento-Organic Chemistry,Nankai University in 2001,China.Afterwards,he worked for one year in Unimicro(Tianjin,China)Technologies,Inc.,followed as a postdoctoral researcher or research fellow in University of Tuebingen in Germany,King’s College London,Pfizer(Sandwich,UK)Research Centre,Novartis(Horsham,UK)Research Centre,respectively.His research interest is in the filed of developing novel separation methods and equipment for pharmaceutical analysis,particularly integrated natural product screening platform,Dynamic tracking platform for in vivo PTM changes of monoclonal antibody etc.So far,he has published more than 120 peer-reviewed papers in prestigious international journals such as Anal Chem,Chem Sci,ACS Appl Mater Interfaces and given more than 40 oral presentations at international/domestic conferences(including 20 keynotes).He also served as chair of the 27th International Symposium on Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis in 2016,permanent board member of steering committee of PBA and international scientific committee member of ISC2018,PBA2018 and PBA2019,APA2017,etc.Current,he is also listed in the editorial board of J Chromatogr A,J Pharm Biomed Anal,Curr Anal Chem,Chin J Pharm Anal,etc.He was awarded a few honorary titles such as New Century Excellent Teachers of Ministry of Education,Excellent Teachers of Guangdong Province.E-mail address:jiangzhengjin@jnu.edu.cn
