摘要
"中国佛教"与"佛教中国化"是中国佛教史研究中两个非常重要的概念。本文梳理这两个概念的来龙去脉,发现"中国佛教"和"佛教中国化",都为中外学者所习用,西方学者以"佛教中国化"指隋唐之前佛教在中国的发展,日本学者多用"中国佛教"指代隋唐及其以后的佛教。国内学者相对喜用"佛教中国化",且将之涵盖佛教在中国的全部发展阶段。"中国佛教"侧重于佛教在中国发展的结果,"佛教中国化"则多谈佛教在中国发展的过程。
"The Chinese Buddhism"and"the Localization of Buddhism in China"are two very important concepts in the study of Chinese Buddhist History.This paper sorts out the origins and development of these two concepts and finds that"the Chinese Buddhism"and"the Localization of Buddhism in China"are both used by Chinese and foreign scholars.Western scholars refer to the development of Buddhism in China before the Sui and Tang dynasties as"the Localization of Buddhism in China",while Japanese scholars use"the Chinese Buddhism"to refer to Buddhism in Sui and Tang dynasties and later.Domestic scholars prefer to use the"the Localization of Buddhism in China",which covers all stages of the development of Buddhism in China."The Chinese Buddhism"focuses on the results of the development of Buddhism in China,while"the Localization of Buddhism in China"mainly talks about the development process of Buddhism in China.
