摘要
近年来,学术界关于不礼貌策略的相关研究逐步兴起,但是鲜有涉及其在权力、身份地位较平等的语境中的运用。文章基于Culpeper的不礼貌策略,采用定性与定量相结合的研究方法对2016年美国的三场总统竞选电视辩论进行剖析。结果发现总统竞选电视辩论中的不礼貌是一种有意的"策略性或工具性不礼貌",用于损害或威胁对方的面子,其产生的强制功能、情感功能和修辞功能能够帮助竞选者实现特定的交际目标,即赢得选票与支持。
At present,although the researches conducted on impoliteness strategies have gained great popularity in the academic circle,only few are concerned with its applications in the contexts of equal power and status.Based on Culpeper’s impoliteness strategies,this study further analyzes the three American televised presidential debates held in 2016 through the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods.The results show that the impoliteness employed in the American televised presidential debates is a kind of intentional"strategic or instrumental impoliteness",which is particularly selected to threaten the rival’s face.What’s more,the coercive function,affective function and rhetorical function generated by impoliteness strategies could help the debater to achieve the specific goal,which is to win more votes and support.
