The major barrier for xenot ransplantation is hyperacute rejection. Pigs transgenic for human complement reg ulators can overcome complement mediated hyperacute rejection. DAF, MCP and CD59 act at different stages in complement activation. The double transgenic for hum an DAF and CD59 provided better protection to the cells or organs than single tr ansgenic for either DAF or CD59. Somatic cell cloning may offer an effective way to obtain genetically modified pigs for clinical transplantation.展开更多
